About

My name is Barry Janzen. I am a 23 year veteran of public education. I currently teach English, Photography, and Media Arts (Video Production/Animation) at Mount Douglas Secondary in Victoria, British Columbia.

This blog will provide the main learning platform in the course Edtech 597: Blogging in the Classroom as part of the Master of Educational Technology program at Boise State University.

I am formally trained in Music and Theater education, but have taught a variety of subjects at the grade 8 to 12 level from English to Criminology to Jazz Studies.

I am the 2011 Western Canadian winner of the Mindshare Learning 21st Century Digital Learning Classroom Video Award. This award, along with an extensive technology prize package, was presented to me based on the following video submission outlining how I use technology in my English classroom.
